Cutting up clothes!

I have to admit, I have gone elsewhere to gather my scrapping supplies. I was getting dressed yesterday morning and a skirt caught my eye! I love that skirt! I really do. I wore it alot with a chocolate turtleneck and super cute knee high boots from 9 West. I always received many compliments when I wore it!

But, lo and behold, the boots were past their prime and had to be sent to goodwill. But, I still loved the skirt... so it hung in my closet.
Well, hang no more...I took scissors to it and this is what I came up with!
PS: The skirt cost 3.50 on clearance...so it was not a huge loss!
I hand cut the flourish and hand stitched the fabric to the paper. I love the look of fabric and paper together!
As always, please feel free to click on the photo to make it come alive!

My Dream for you

I created this layout today focusing on the sweet baby grip! There is nothing more precious and bond forming then when a baby reaches out to make contact.
I suppose this is why complete strangers have a need to walk over to your child, reach out and grab their hand. {As I cringe concerned about their grubby germs on their hands! hahaha} It is that grasp from a newborn child that connects us one to another!
This page contains the most wonderful poem I found by Sandra Lewis Pringle in 1999.
It was so fitting for this page!
You may hold a child's heart forever,
but you can't always hold onto their hand.
You must lead them, guide them, love them,
every day, in every way you can.
When they grow up and move away,
a piece of you goes, too.
You just hope that they'll always remember,
the fragments of love, instilled by you.
You hope that they'll remember,
that life is not all about self gain.
You hope that they'll remember,
to cover their heads, while out in the pouring rain.
You hope that they'll remember,
all the fun times they've had.
You hope that they'll remember to seek the Lord,
when times are both good and bad.
You may hold a child's heart forever,
but you can't always hold onto their hand.
You must lead them, guide them, love them,
every day, in every way you can.

Winner!

I won "Layout of the Day-1st Project Catwalk" over at Scrap in Style!
Here is the layout...

What you see!

I found a new way to use up the tags that are abundant!
I hand crafted the rocket to match one of the tags. I also added wiggly eyes and a rub on elephant!

Basic Grey Oh Baby Boy Tags

wiggly eyes
MM letter chipboard
Basic Grey Archaic letters
white floss for handstitching

black sakura pen for dots

Needs No Words!!!

Jay woud spit up all the time. When you expected it...when you least expected it...on your good clothes...on your bad clothes...on your inlaws...on your company...on your rug...in your bed...
Okay you get the picture!
However, this was taken during a photo shoot I had set up for you.
Unfortunately, your head was kind of cut off in the picture. I was mortified you JUST vomited as I had just started taking your pic! I snapped this in the quick sequence of shots. If memory serves correctly, your head settled down into the pool and then you lifted it up again. You see at this time, he was not real strong in the holding the head up on your tummy phase!

Product review:
Journaling reads:
It never for one moment bothered you that you were always spitting up. It made us cringe. It made us curl up our noses and run for burp cloths. This picture just "happened" and I love it!!!
This is a 5x5 photo from scrapbookpictures. I accidentally cut off his head, but that was because I was partially mortified he threw up during a photo opportunity!

Cheerios are scrumptious!

Here is the wonderful start to my first mini album in quite some time!
Ode to Cheerios!!!!!!!!
This is cut from an actual Cheerios box! I certainly go through enough boxes to use them as mini books!

This is just the start! I have so many pictures of him chasing cheerios around, I thought I should make a mini album!!! Now keep in mind this is just the beginning. I am waiting on some more photos to be developed!

My baby's first smile!

This morning I started a layout about my baby's first smile. Oh that precious moment in time when he curled the sides of his lips upwards was a monumental occasion. I didn't think it would actually ever happen. I happened to catch these photos on January 18, 2008 as I had set him up on the couch to photograph him. jacob and Jayda walked into the room and he all but came out of his clothes with the smile and excitement he showed. Okay, so I am still dealing with the heartbreak that it wasn't me that he smiled at first! hahahaha Just kidding.
As always, a simple click on the picture will make these pages come alive!

Thanks for looking!

Time for a sweet change...something girly!

I love this picture of Jayda...despite her hair being all a jumble!
I tell you, my mother wished this little girl on me! hahaha
When I was in elementary school, I HAD TO PLAY FLUTE! Well, quite frankly, I think i liked getting out of class for lessons. I never practiced, and didn't like to practice. Heck, I don't think I even liked the flute...but all the popular girls were playing. Yes, I suppose I understand Jayda better than I could have ever dreamed!
This particular layout took on a life of it's own...as most do these days. I enjoyed again the hambly and I stuck the ribbon under it and stapled the whole concoction together. This was an afterthought and it worked!
Thank you Jingle{aka Jennifer} for the wonderful fibers you sent in the mail!
Painting...so archaic. I have a few colors of paint...but no brown so I mixed them all to get brown. I don't have a paintbrush{WTH?} so I just used a Q tip! hehehe Then I sanded it with a buffing bar in order to not make it look so "painted".
I must be living in prehistoric times! hahahaha
As always, please click on the picture to have it enlarge and give you a better view!

Two Challenges

This first layout was completed for a challenge. I had to complete a layout in one hour. We were given no info unil 9 pm. We had to have it completed by 10 and uploaded to the sight by 10:15pm. I started about 10 minutes after nine so I was really pressed for time!
I had my thread already on the needle as I always leave the extra on! I was thrilled, this way I could add some stitching...my new favorite thing to do on all my layouts!

The second one, I completed for a challenge on Scrap Schemes.
I loved the layered idea and the papers went with this picture so well!!! The flowers were inked from a cream to a brown color. I stitched on my picture for the first time. I liked the look. I have been wanting to use these patterned papers for some time!

swirling.....off 2 dreamland!

I have begun to use the Hambly overlays, and much to my surprise I enjoy them!
This picture is oh so super cute. Precious is more like it! Such complete trust and faith in his father to protect him as he slumbers!
I enjoyed the swiftness at which this page came together. Completed in under an hour and that was with me not even feeling good!
I hand stitched across the top of the hambly through all layers.
Love handstitching!

I am so loving this page right now! I used paper that had swirls all over the background and I carried that over with a brown marker onto other scraps. I actually stapled down my ribbon and so love the look! When I first started scrapping I said I would "NEVER" use staples on a layout. Oh well! I did and I love it! You can't stop me now!!!
Upon immediate delivery of baby Jay, he was placed on my stomach. As I looked down at him with adoration, this is what I saw. I stroked the hair in this same swirl. It was at this moment I immediately bonded to and fell in love with the little guy!

More layouts of baby Jay!

I have been busy creating. It is such an enjoyable outlet for me! I love the end product, but most of all, I enjoy the process of watching it come together.

This first layout I used a Hambly overlay for the first time! I truly enjoyed using this and see me using more of it in the future...especially cutting it up and using bits and pieces throughout as accents!
I didn't have any white flourishes of my own....so I created them using Sakura glaze pens. They work wonderfully on the Hambly! I found myself quite clever conecting black with white. Then again, it doesn't take much to entertain me!
I also hand backstitiched navy blue around the edge of the white cardstock.
I am so glad i made my children sit in the car and wait while I ran into the LSS and picked up red flowers to go on this page! I promise, the air was on and I was only there 3 minutes. Promise!
As usual, if you click on the picture, it will enlarge offering you a better picture.

Baby Toes and Oranges!

I completed two more layouts last night! I am loving my new scrapping setup and recent organization!
The first one is of my sweet peas baby toes! Scrumpdillyicious!

The second is for a challenge at All Moments Remembered. Lotsa orange, 3 buttons, chipboard. This one was done of my 11 year old son Jacob. He is so handsome and such an old soul. Plus, he gets all the jokes and makes his own as well!
